Leading health organizations recognize the value of conservative care for musculoskeletal conditions. UnitedHealthcare, for instance, has noted the significant impact of chiropractic care on patient outcomes and healthcare costs. In a 2019 news release, UnitedHealthcare announced a new benefit for low back pain, stating that by encouraging access to chiropractic care, their benefit design "has the potential to reduce the number of spinal imaging tests by 22%, spinal surgeries by 21%, [and] opioid use by 19%." This highlights the positive impact of chiropractic care on reducing reliance on opioids and invasive procedures.
